A Typical Day at Camp
Each Day at camp is anything but typical, but here is an example of what we do.

9:00 am Group Session: Discussion of weight management principles & Group problem solving techniques. Progress toward Goals. New materials from the SHAPEDOWN book are presented daily. A thirst quencher and nutritious snack is provided by instructors.
10:00 am Structured Activity: Structured Group Activity that is done with the Shapedown instructor - Choices include: Quick Start Tennis, Soccer, Volleyball, Obstacle course, and a variety of exercises: jump rope, ball exercise, stretching techniques, circuit training, etc.
11:00 am Free time: Free time allows the campers to enjoy unstructured activity like free play with friends while listening to music. Free time activities could include frisbee, catch, hacki sac etc ... Free time ends with a group hike to the Picnic Shelter.
12:00 pm Lunch and Food Lab: Campers are served a variety of nutritious foods for lunch and nutritious food choices are discussed. Daily food labs include discussions like how to become a fat detective, or how to understand food labels. Each week culminates with a food lab at the restaurant at Pipestem's McKeever Lodge, where healthy choices for eating out are emphasized.
1:00 pm Practical Application: This Group session focuses on putting into practice the principles learned in Shapedown. Campers participate in role playing and group problem solving. Afternoon Sessions help young people with principles of healthy body image and positive self esteem.
2:00 pm Afternoon Activity: Fun outdoor activity for 1 ½ hours from 2:00 to 3:30. Activities to include: Archery, Miniature Golf, Paddle boats, Fishing, Nature walks, Frisbee golf, etc...
3:30 pm to 5:00 Swimming: Swimming at outdoor pool or in case of bad weather indoor pool. Children will need to supply their own towel, swimwear and sunblock. Parents will pick up their children promptly by 5:00 pm at the pool. An afternoon nutritious snack is served.
